The state’s education chief is seeking to permanently close a Dallas charter school, citing a repeated failure to protect students from teachers and staff with criminal backgrounds.
Children First Academy in southeast Oak Cliff, along with a sister campus in Houston, has been shuttered since early September. The Texas Education Agency ordered the closure, saying the school had not run criminal background checks on 17 employees despite repeated requests.
